The Highlanders are fortunate to have two coaches and many other team supporters from the team parents and local community. John Sutherland (head coach)
Coach John Sutherland is a relative newcomer to soccer, going back a mere three years when he enrolled his three daughters Amanda, Alina, and Keely in AYSO soccer. After a year of watching and assisting Jimmy with coaching duties for the Alienated team, he took an AYSO coaching course and coached his youngest daughter, Keely, in a girls U10 team during the fall of 2001. John then became more involved with soccer during the spring of 2002 while again assisting Jimmy with coaching, this time with the Quiet Riot AYSO All-Star GU14 team. In early June of this year, John became a club coach for the Highlanders.

Jimmy Gonzales
Having played soccer as a youth, coach Jimmy Gonzales brings to all of his teams an intuitive and experienced approach to training that embraces technique as well as tactics. Jimmy is an experienced AYSO and club soccer coach, with his background as a coach starting with his oldest daughter, Jennifer (now a senior at Stanford) on a club soccer team dubbed the ‘Wild Things.’ In recent years, Jimmy has coached the AYSO Region 462 teams Alienated (GU14), Goofy Grapes (GU14), and the All-Star Quiet Riot (GU14).
